WILKES-BARRE, Penn. - A Pennsylvania police officer caught burglarizing businesses has been sentenced to six to 12 years in state prison.

The Wilkes-Barre Township police sergeant pleaded guilty last month to dozens of felony charges after he was videotaped by a camera secretly placed in the light bar of his police cruiser.

Authorities say the camera caught Donald Sromovski stealing tires from a car dealership and burglarizing storage lockers while on duty. He was also videotaped transporting stolen items back to his home.

The judge says the officer should have been protecting residents from crime rather than committing it.
