Banned driver
crashes into judge on way to court
A disqualified driver has been jailed for six months after he crashed into a
judge on the way to hear his case.
Gary Manson was already banned from getting behind the wheel when he crashed
into Judge Raymond Kean.
Manson was due up before the judge on two charges of driving while disqualified
the same morning and was on his way to court.
Judge Kean excused himself from the case at Westport District Court, New
Zealand.
Judge John Strettell sentenced Manson to six months' prison for driving while
disqualified and had a suspended six-month prison sentence activated.
It is not clear whether Manson is due back in court to face charges over
crashing into the judge.
Manson, 25, told Judge Kean of his disqualification after the smash, reports the
New Zealand Press Agency.
