BELOIT, Wis. - A 9-year-old boy was removed from school after teachers found him in possession of cocaine and marijuana.

The boy, a student at Burdge Elementary School, was reportedly stealing paints from a classroom Tuesday and as he was pulling out the paints, a zipper bag of marijuana also fell out.

The boy also had a zipper bag full of cocaine, said Beloit Police Capt. William Tyler.

"He had enough, especially for a 9-year-old," Tyler said.

Burdge School Principal Barbara Hickman contacted the Beloit Police and had the boy removed from school. The boy refused to tell Hickman where he got the drugs or what he planned to do with them.

Tyler said the boy could not be arrested because of his age, but Child and Family Protective Services had been notified and is working with the boy.

It is extremely uncommon to find someone this young at school with drugs, Tyler said.

Police reports indicated the drugs were packaged as if they were for sale.
