MADRID (Reuters) - The Big Day turned into The Big Brawl for two wedding parties
in Madrid when around 30 people were injured in a fight involving broken bottles
and firecrackers, Spanish state television reported Sunday.
Around 100 people from two separate wedding receptions sharing the same venue
clashed, wielding fists, broken bottles and at least one knife, paramedics told
the TV channel.
Four people were treated in hospital and two were arrested, the TV said.
The Saturday night fight started when a glass from one wedding party fell one
floor below where the other party was taking place.
It peaked when one person took a firecracker to the face, leading to the all-out
brawl.
"They mostly had bruises from punches or kicks, and there were also cuts from
broken glass, mostly from drinking glasses, and one person had a knife wound," a
paramedics spokesman said. "All of the wounds were superficial, including that
of one person who was burned slightly by an exploding firecracker."
